Congrats! You’ve taken your first step in improving your health through the help of Chiropractic care and healthy nutrition. The word Chiropractic means “done by hand” and both Dr. Scott and Dr. Jason Kosek treat patients by using their hands to realign the vertebrae in the back to help restore normal health.
In order to understand Chiropractic it is best to start with an understanding of how the body works. The nervous system controls every aspect of the body. From the brain down through the spinal cord and out to your organs, bones, and muscles. The brain sits inside the skull and the spinal cord travels down inside the vertebrae and the nerves come out in between the vertebrae and travel to the various parts of the body. When we move the vertebrae all bend and twist to support the body and protect the nerves from injury. Occasionally when we bend or twist the individual vertebrae can move out of position and pinch the nerve and disrupt the normal nerve transmission. This is called a subluxation.
As Chiropractors, we locate the vertebra that has moved out of place and use our hands to realign the subluxation.
